My main goal with this project was to make a collage of items in the form of the Triforce for the game The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. To make it more than just a fun collage piece I channeled it through the medium of a Broadway poster. The tag line hearkens back to the original Legend of Zelda game and the Nintendo byline matches the style of their credits screen in old Nintendo games.
Design Choices
I modeled and shaded the items in a flat design style. The shading is hard and the visual elements in any item are kept to a minimum. I hand drew all of the items from reference images and picked colors by eye. This way, the items are more nuanced rather than carbon copies. Made in Illustrator.
This logo design was commissioned as a magnet for a client’s Jeep. He wanted to name his Jeep, similar to how planes and ships are named. He had a very clear vision as to what this logo would look like.
I am thinking of a Curtiss JN-4 'Jenny' airplane in flight in a partly cloudy sky with a female figure 'wing-walker' on the top wing. I would like an Art Deco look to this with the words 'Barnstormin' Jenny' on the top and bottom of the circle. I would like to have the plane in flight facing the front of the Jeep on both sides, like a mirror image. The clouds I envision would have a flat bottom and reflecting a late afternoon or setting sun light from the bottom.
With the strong Art Deco color scheme and accurate "Jenny" biplane, I created a solution that met and exceeded the client's original vision.
