Data Driven Design

For a number crunching lover like me, information design is the perfect intersection of art and data. Infographics add dimensionality and insight to a dataset that a spreadsheet cannot.

Youtube in 10 Genres

This “bubble barcode” organizes a dataset of 150 Youtube channels into 10 unique genres. Each circle represents a channel and their height on the y-axis corresponds to their number of subscribers. The size of each circle is proportional to the channels’ video count.

Waves of Pandora

This dataset follows the “thumb-up” activity of 17 Pandora Radio stations across 3 years. Each soundwave represents a different station and amplitude is related to thumb count. I wanted to reflect my own experience with music in this infographic, so I focused on the readability of the trends or preferences rather than raw number counts.
